Tasha Welch has always loved to draw and design, and from an early age
was recognized for her creativity and eye for composition. This quickly
became a driving passion in her life, and in 1991 she moved from Valdez,
Alaska to San Francisco, to pursue an education and career in design.
Tasha received a degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and
Merchandising, and then went on to pursue graphic design at San
Francisco's Academy of Art. It was there she was introduced to
Industrial Design, and found her true calling. The first piece of
furniture Tasha designed stemmed from a class project, which required
her to create an end table or chair out of a single, 2x4. The problem
solving nature of this first Industrial Design project had Tasha hooked.
After graduating with a degree in Industrial Design, Tasha spent 5 years
as an award winning point-of-purchase designer creating designs for
companies like Mondavi, Sutter Home, Gallo and Smuckers. In the fall of
1999, she launched her own line of home furnishings and accessories, and
now works full-time running her business, Studio Dinor. Her designs
exhibit a simple beauty that elegantly marries form and function through
clean geometry, natural finishes, and an economy of material.
Her work was recently featured at Bay Area Furniture Art at the Blue
Room Gallery and at Shop Outside the Box, an event in Union Square put
on by the San Francisco Small Business Commission.
