I earned a BFA from The Art Institute of Chicago in 1992 with a concentration in painting. I only recently became a “designer” when opportunities arrived that complimented my artistic development. I am working on two projects now. The first is a collaboration with a master felt maker living in Iran. Using an ancient technique, he makes felt rugs that are based on my drawings. The designs are achieved by “drawing” with different natural colors of wool. The felt is made by rubbing the wool with boiling water. The other medium I am using is Adobe Illustrator to generate drawings that are printed on shaped aluminum panels. The printing method is a state-of-the-art process using high resolution metal imaging. The panel is shaped so the surface floats 2” evenly from the wall. |
