After spending 20-odd years working in the field of marine research while making furniture part-time, I launched my second career, furniture designer/maker, as a full-time endeavor at the beginning of 2001. One of my biggest strengths as a designer is my problem-solving ability.
I work primarily in solid wood, using both domestic and imported hardwoods, and select softwoods. I also enjoy using non-wood elements such as metal and glass as accents. Most of my pieces employ a hand-rubbed oil-varnish finish that is pleasing to both eye and hand. My original designs fuse the essences of basic Asian, Arts & Crafts, and contemporary aesthetics. I strive to create objects that are relevant to the client and their lifestyle, include something of my own personal aesthetic, are functional, and display a high level of craftsmanship.
I primarily create one-of-a-kind pieces that are aesthetic and functional, geared directly to the client's environment and needs. Since all pieces are made to order, most any of my designs can be executed in a variety of sizes and wood types.
