In a world of rapidly growing land fills Oswell hopes for "heirloom" status. The hope for these designs is that they would last beyond this generation. These designs are purposefully left simple in order to accept companions. They don't desire all of the attention in your living environment, they wish to fit in, but if attention is paid their virtues will be revealed. Oswell is devoted to creating forms which communicate simplicity. Heavily influenced by all that was once awe inspiring in industry, the mechanical mechanism, the truss, the turbine, and the gear. These assemblages once evoked wonder and amazement as they performed their duties. Oswell designs draw on these building blocks as the bases of form and function. The relationship we have all developed with these forms, having encountered them throughout our lives lends a familiarity to them; a familiarity which makes them friendly. |
