I first started designing furniture to fill needs in my own house. Every time I moved, it seemed there were functionality holes in the new place. And while I never studied any form of design, the translation of the skills learned as a Graphic Designer and sculptor to the pieces that made my living situation a little more livable was smooth. Working on tables and lighting has given me a necessary balance to the pixelated duties of working in the Internet world for the last three years. There is a lot of value to the World Wide Web but bringing ideas to life in an electronic form leaves me looking for something I can hold onto. Probably the single most important aspect of my personal spaces is the lighting. Having the right light in a room can make even a worn sofa have new appeal. That is why my first furniture series is lighting designed to change the mood of a room. They stand on their own as unlit pieces but really come alive when the sun goes down. With interchangeable and custom shades available, the mood is up to you. |
